CHIEF-TECHNOLOGY AND TECHNICAL CRIMINAL SERVICES

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Thorough knowledge of Federal, State and local Criminal Laws; Thorough knowledge of the techniques and principles of crime prevention, crime detection, legal and criminal investigations and scientific crime-detection methods and apprehension of violators; Thorough knowledge of current electronic data processing equipment, policies, procedures and terminology; Thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art internet and telecommunications technology; Thorough knowledge of the New York State Penal Law and the Code of Criminal Procedure; Good knowledge of the collection, analysis, preservation and presentation of evidence for the courts; Ability to effectively supervise law enforcement officers, detectives and clerical personnel; Ability to maintain thorough and accurate records and to prepare a concise written and oral reports; Ability to get along well with others; Emotional stability; Ability to deal courteously but firmly with the public; Good powers of observation; Industry and dependability; High degree of initiative and resourcefulness; Tact; Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four (4) year college or university with a Bachelors degree and two (2) years of experience in the development, coordination, supervision and operation of information and communications systems and equipment; or:

B) Completion of a minimum of 60 semester credit hours from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two (2) or four (4) year college or university with a major in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Computer Science or related field and four (4) years of experience in the development, coordination, supervision and operation of information and communications systems and equipment; or: C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must posses a valid certificate attesting to satisfactory completion of an approved New York State municipal police basic training program (pursuant to Section 209-q of the New York State General Municipal Law), and have served as a police officer for a minimum of four (4) years. NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements
