Under direct supervision of the Dietary Supervisor, this position consists of preparing food for patients, hospital and medical staff, and maintaining the Food Services Department in a sanitary manner
Knowledge/Skills:
Comprehends and performs oral and written instructions and procedures
Collaborates with other multidisciplinary team members in an appropriate fashion
Maintains high standards for work areas and appearance
Ability to work a flexible schedule Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays Must comply with any dress code requirements
Attends work and shows up for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
Ability to use a computer Microsoft Word and browser to access vender websites
Ability to provide clear directions and respond to employees
Basic food-handling skills
Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 45 pounds
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
ServSafe Certification or similar food safety certification, where required by the state and facility
1-2 years’ experience preferred but not required
Qualifications
Education: High School education or equivalent is preferred.
Experience: Experience as a Cook or Cook’s helper in an institutional food service facility is preferred.
